Background
Jai Hind College, located in Mumbai, is one of the oldest colleges of high repute. As an energy conservation initiative, the college wanted classroom electrical equipment to switch on and off automatically when an ID card is swiped at the reader installed outside the classroom. Two categories of users were defined:
- Category 1 – Professors & Guest Lecturers: Swiping card switches on both AC and lights. Swiping again on exit switches them off.
- Category 2 – Sweepers & Watchmen: Swiping card switches on lights only. Swiping on exit switches them off.
